Stok Kangril and Kangyatze Expedition

19 Days Expedition

Day 01: Delhi - Leh

On arrival at Leh airport, you will be met by our representative at the airport and transfer to Hotel. Complete day for the acclimitization which is 3500 Mtrs above sea level. In the evening short work around the Leh bazar Overnight at Hotel.

Day 02: Leh

Morning half day sightseeing tour of Spituk and Phayang monastery. Afternoon visit by foot to Kings palace, Tsemo Gompa, Leh Mosque, Leh Bazar and Shankar Gompa. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 03: Leh - Stok drive - Mankarmo 4 Hrs trek

Aftr breakfast drive to Stok and visit Stok Museum and start our first day of trek to Mankarmo which will tokk 4 Hrs easy walking. Overnight at Tents.

Day 04: Mankarmo - Stok Kangri BC  4 Hrs trek

A four hour trek take us to the base camp area of Stok Kangri. The very pleasant campsite is on a grassy area besides a number of melt water streams. In the afternoon we can walk above our camps for views of the surrounding peaks Stok Kangri (6150 M), Gulap Kangri, Paracha Kangri and many other. Overnight at Tents

Day 05: BC - Stok Kangri Summit - BC 7 to 8 hr trek

Depending on the fitness of the group and weather, we will either go for a one day ascent from our base camp or choose top establish a high camp, from which we can make the summit push on the following day. Much of the climb involves walking across and boulders slopes. The final part of the climb will involve the use of crampons and ice axe on snow slopes up to about 35 degree. Although this is not a technically demanding climb, at an altitude of over 6000 Meter, the climb will be very strenuous. The summit views are spectacular stretching from Karakoram peaks. Return back to the BC. Overnight at Tents.

Day 06: BC - Rumbak 4 to 5 Hrs trek

After breakfast trek towards to Rumbak which will took 4 to 5 Hrs easy walking. Overnight at Tents

Day 07: Rumbak - Gandala BC (4900M) 4 to 5 hrs trek

Today is an increasingly steep trekking day over Gandal La Pass (4920M) which affords stunning views of the Karakon and Stok ranges of the Himalayas . After crossing the pass, we hv a quick descent to the base approx. 1 hur and eventually to the camp.

Day 08: BC Gandala - Ski 4 Hrs trek

Today we descend into a valley through impressive gorges to the ancient Skio Monastery situated in a picturesque setting in the Markha valley. We camp at this point. Here we will find ancient burial grounds and 13th century ruins. Overnight at Tents.

Day 09: Skiu - Markha 7 Hrs. Trek

From Skiu, follow a good path on the right bank of Markha where one can find great vegetation. Then cross right bank of river and cross through barren plain and arrive at Chaluk. Thereafter walk along the left bank of river and after another crossing climb towards Markha village. Good camp site beyond the village and near river. Overnight in Tents.

Day 10: Markha - Tchatchutse 6/7 Hrs. Trek

Start trek towards the main valley on the right bank. The path is sometimes difficult in the river bed and pass the monastery of Humlung. Then carry on trek along the right bank and arrive in Hankar where there are several houses. The path improves and cross a broad valley on the right side. The valley becomes narrow and higher and cross bridges on to the left bank and then reaches Tchatchuste. Overnight in Tents.

Day 11: Tchatchutse - Nimaling (4700 M) 3 Hrs. Trek

Trek starts on good path and several small inclines. The river is rather far to the other side and walk near a small lake, then cross pasture to Nimaling. This is one of most beautiful high valleys in Ladakh dominated by the Kang Yaze. Trek ascent towards other side and gradually reach Nimaling. Overnight in Tents.

Day 12: Nimaling - BC of Kangyatze (6400 M)

Todays trek is easy walking upto Kangyatze through the pastures. Shortly after passing the landmark called "Lakeview" we arrive at Kang Yatze peak BC. Overnight at Tents.

Day 13 to Day 16 :

Climbing different peaks depending upon the condition of the group and weather. Overnight,s at BC.

Day 17: BC - KongmaruLa (5150M) - Shang Sumdo 6 hrs trek

Cross the Markha valley and follow long climb along the mountain side, then zig zag road leads towards Kongmarula. Follow steep descent into gorges and then keep walking on the left bank to Chukirmo. Thereafter crossing right and left bank and arrive Shang, a beautiful camp in groves and there is a monastery an hour away from the village. Overnight in tents.

Day 18: Shang Sumdo - Hemis 4 Hrs. Trek - Leh 1 ½ Hrs. drive

Trek starts from the riverbed, then follow a good path through large blocks and then go left bank. You reach a dusty trail suitable for motor vehicles and then pass a small house and series of Chortens. Leave Martsellang on the right and follow a gently rising trail towards Hemis. Visit Hemis monastery after that drive towards to Leh via Shey and Thiksey monastery. Overnight at Hotel

Day 19: Leh - Delhi

Transfer in time to the airport to connect onwards flight for Delhi .


IMPORTANT:

Please note that climbing of peaks can be done without IMF permission. There are many groups and individuals who do the expedition without IMF permission but there is risk involved in this case if any accident happens, would be clients responsibility and repatriation could be difficult. Also if the team is caught doing climbing without permission, it would be a problem for every body. For such expeditions without IMF permission and also make them declare that this is going trekking expedition and not mountaineering expedition. This is to keep ourselves on safe side.

If u book the peak through IMF there is an extra expenditure of roughly about USD: 3000 to 3500 for whole group.
